Hailed by All About Jazz as “an acclaimed pioneer in the Latin jazz realm”, Fernando Huergo leads a quintet that plays Jazz Argentino: original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards incorporating Argentinean folkloric styles, jazz harmonies and improvisation.
Fernando Huergo Quintet has performed at the Buenos Aires Jazz Fest and Cordoba International Jazz Festival in Argentina, at Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome, Italy; Sunside Jazz in Paris, France; Lavoir Théâtre in Epinal, (Vosges) France; The Regattabar in Cambridge, MA, WGBH’s program ‘Eric in the Evening’ and Cornelia Street Cafe, Terraza 7, Tutuma, and “Jazz at the Argentinean Consulate” in New York City, among others.
In 2010, he received a Grant from Chamber Music of America and the French American Cultural Exchange, which resulted in the recording of the album “Suite in Blue and White”, in Paris, France.
Fernando Huergo Quintet has recorded 5 albums: Jazz Argentino (FreshSound, World Jazz 2002), Jazz Argentino: Live at the Regattabar (FreshSound World Jazz 2004), Provinciano (Sunnyside Records, 2008), Suite in Blue and White (Wherergo Music 2012), and Hashtag (ZOHO Music, March 2016).
